Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
At Logotex, we receive a lot of questions regarding our processes, our imprinting and our embroidery services. The following is a listing of our most common questions. To view the answer, just click on the questions below. If you don’t see your question here, please feel free to email us at info@logotex.com or call us at 604-255-7515 or 1-800-LOGOTEX.
What information do you require in order to complete my order?
The following are the 10 questions that you will need to answer in order for Logotex to complete your order:
1. What is your deadline?
2. Which item have you selected?
3. How many?
4. Digital or camera-ready artwork for screening, minimum of business card
artwork for embroidery. (see - what is suitable artwork?)
5. How many colours are we imprinting?
6. What are the Pantone numbers for those colours?
7. What is the imprint location?
8. What is your purchase order number?
9. Are you GST or HST exempt?
10. What is the delivery address?
It’s that simple! We will prepare a full contract and fax it to you for approval. We will then need you to review it to make sure that we have all the details right, sign it and fax back to us. Upon receipt of your signature, artwork and 50% deposit, we’ll be underway!
What is your minimum order?
For embroidered garments, we start at just 12 pieces. Our in-house embroidery equipment ensures quality and timely delivery on all sizes of orders.
Promotional product minimums vary by supplier and product - lower priced items have higher minimums, while higher priced unique items can be purchased one at a time. We have the expertise to find the right product at the right price for your budget.
What is your turnaround time?
Typically, you should allow 7-14 working days from receipt of approved artwork, depending on the product ordered. We work to all deadlines and have a group of responsive suppliers who work with us to ensure that you have the right imprinted product on time for your event. We have been known to turn out an embroidered shirt order within 3 hours of the order! Having our own embroidery equipment is quite an asset! Of course, as a rule, we do prefer a little more notice. If it can’t be done, we’ll tell you - but there’s usually a suitable alternative we can offer to ensure that your needs are met.
I’m not sure what product I need — can you help me?
Our 1,250 square foot executive showroom, located five minutes from downtown Vancouver, is stocked full of different garments and promotional products that you can pick up, turn over and feel for their quality. Our staff is always ready with creative solutions to your questions. Try us out!
Do you deliver?
In order to ensure that our clients get the best pricing possible, we have no hidden delivery charges in our prices. Many of our customers get preferred rates from their courier companies and arrange their own pick up of their order. However, we are happy to arrange couriers for you - we have preferred rates as well!
Do you guarantee your products?
Few companies in the promotional marketing industry actually commit in writing to “total satisfaction” for their clients. We do! We know that when promotional products are manufactured, there are things that can, and do, go wrong. But we carry the burden so that you don’t have to, regardless of the position of the manufacturer.
We deliver on whatever you have ordered. Here is our commitment, in writing:
“It’s right, It’s on Time, Guaranteed.”
At Logotex, we stand behind all our work with an on-time and quality guarantee. We unconditionally guarantee that all orders will be delivered without product or printing defects. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with a product, we will gladly replace it. At Logotex we guarantee our work. “It’s right, it’s on time, guaranteed.”
What are your terms?
Due to the “custom” nature of our business, we work on a 50% deposit / 50% on delivery basis. Once credit history is established, we are happy to provide net 30 day terms to account’s purchasing $5,000 a year and over. Payment can be made by cheque, VISA or Mastercard.
Imprinting Services and Embroidery
How much does embroidery cost?
There are a lot of variables in embroidery, so there is no simple answer for this. We need to consider the size and complexity of the design, the fabrics and garment types that will be embroidered, the number of items being embroidered and the number of colours in the design.
Please contact one of our knowledgeable staff members for more information on your embroidery questions. We will work with you to ensure that your design is reproduced artistically and with the attention to detail you require.
Do I have to pay a set up fee on future orders?
For exact repeats of embroidery orders - NO! For screen printed items, there is usually a set up charge on each order, but this varies by manufacturer. Any time you want to change artwork, the answer will always be yes. We keep all artwork on file for our clients, ensuring that subsequent orders will be produced quickly and efficiently.
What do you mean by “embroidery digitizing”?
Great question! Read on...
Can I provide artwork in electronic format to avoid embroidery programming charges?
No. The digitizing process cannot go directly from electronic art to the embroidery process. First a large drawing has to be made (usually 6x original size). Then, using specialized software developed especially for the embroidery industry, the digitizer converts it into stitches, taking into account the type of material it is being applied to, the size, the garment type (e.g. hats or shirts), machine type and any other dynamics that can affect the final embroidery.
What kind of artwork do you need for embroidery?
Remember that the better the original art, the better chance of getting a precise logo reproduction. However, we can work from any artwork such as a business card, letterhead, brochure, electronic art, or even a decent hand sketch which our artist can redraw. See the “what is suitable artwork for embroidery” question below for more information.
How important is a digitizer to the embroidery?
This is critical. There are literally hundreds of digitizers in the embroidery industry, but only a handful that can produce a first class job. It takes years to become accomplished in this art form. Most digitizers today work off the computer screen, which can be far less accurate and true. The phrase GIGO - garbage in = garbage out - certainly applies. We use the craftsman tablet method which, along with our highly respected embroidery operators, provides the superior quality embroidery for which we have become noted. Although it takes longer and is more expensive, the results are worth it!
Do I pay programming/set up charges on future embroidery orders?
We keep all designs on file to be used again at any time. There is no cost to this, and no set up charge for exact repeats. If there are size or other minor changes, this can be done for a modest editing fee. A new programming charge is not required, unless the changes are extensive or complex.
You have done a left chest embroidery for us before. Now we want to put the design on a jacket back. Can I do this?
Rarely does this work well. We can most often modify an embroidery program up 15 - 20% satisfactorily, but anything larger usually involves different stitch applications and modifications necessitating reprogramming the design.
I already have an embroidery program digitized by another embroiderer. Can you use it?
We can take the disk and determine if it will produce acceptable results. Any disk provided must be accompanied with complete running documentation, otherwise there would be a minimum $35.00 co-ordination charge. More often, the disk is usually inferior to our quality standards. It is better to have a new program made. By the time we have to make changes, run samples, etc., we might as well have a new proper program done. It’s like the foundation of a house - if it is uneven or weak, the whole house is affected.
Will you embroider my garments?
We do have a contract embroidery department. We require a minimum of 96 similar garments. Be aware that we have a full range of clothing from work wear, staff apparel, school uniforms, promotional apparel, etc., at a competitive price. It is usually more cost effective to purchase through us - with the added assurance of our full guarantee!
What is suitable artwork for embroidery?
The best “hard copy” art you have available is what we want. We do not need camera ready art, but we do need something that clearly shows your art. If you have colour art, that is even better. If not, a clean drawing with arrows pointing to where the individual colours are is more than adequate. Most of the time a fax of your design is satisfactory. If we need more, we will let you know. DO NOT SEND colour separated PMT.’S.
If you are sending files by e-mail, send ONLY in the following formats: JPEG, Illustrator 12 or lower, .AI, .EPS,.GIF, .TIF. We will not attempt to open other file types.
Imprinting Services and Non-embroidery
What is suitable artwork for screen printing or other promotional products?
We require camera ready artwork in vector based files (all type converted to curves & outlines). Accepted formats are .ai or .eps saved to version 12 or lower, spot colour with pantones noted.
Tiffs, jpegs, bitmaps, and gifs saved as .eps or .ai cannot be colour separated. We can convert/redraw these files into vector based art for our production services at $60.00 per hour and would be happy to give you a quote on conversion.
